It is with my deepest condolences and sadness that I write on the passing of my colleague and friend, Councilmember Ron Swegles. I had known Ron for over a decade serving on the Planning Commission and the City Council together, and while he served as Mayor, I was serving alongside as Vice Mayor. Ron was a very good public servant and a gentleman. Ron spent his life committed to serving the needs of the community and a strong advocate for our seniors. He dedicated his time and efforts to improving lives both through public office and community organizations and always had a good sense of humor and wealth of kindness that he did not hesitate to share. He was a truly ethical and dedicated public servant and I am most honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve with him. We mourn this huge loss to Sunnyvale and our community.
May he rest in peace.
