Dear Friend:

I am running for election to the Sunnyvale City Council in November 2003, open Seat #5, which is currently served by Hon. Manny Valerio. Manny will retire after serving eight years on the Council due to term limits. During the past five years, I have served on the Sunnyvale Planning Commission where I studied and made decisions on housing, land use, transportation, and other important issues affecting the quality of life for Sunnyvale residents. More importantly, I have learned to become a good listener and a consensus builder. As a Council member, I will continue to listen to concerns so everyone with a stake in the future of Sunnyvale will be heard.

I have been active in the local community as follows:
- Sunnyvale Planning Commissioner and Chairperson 1998-2003
- Leadership Sunnyvale Graduate 2000-2001
- Census 2000 Outreach Committee
- Sunnyvale Educational Foundation, Mini Grant Committee 2002
- ACT for Mental Health 2000-2003
- Santa Clara County business owner and law firm managing partner

In addition to my volunteer activities, I am a Naval Reserve Supply Officer with the U.S. Naval Air Pacific Command. In that capacity, I provide contributory support to enhance readiness to aircraft carriers throughout the West Coast.

On March 1, 2003 from 1-3pm, I will formally kickoff my candidacy at the Fair Oaks Club. (See attached map).
