July 20, 2003, Singtao Daily
Otto Lee, one of the Chinese American candidates running for Sunnyvale City Council, recently returned
from serving at the U.S. Naval Air Force Pacific Command Headquarters in San Diego. At yesterday's
Fundraising Party, he demonstrated his strong commitment to serving the Sunnyvale community.
Otto Lee immigrated to the United States with his parents from Hong Kong when he was 15 years old.
After he earned his Bachelor's of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Nuclear Engineering from
University of California at Berkeley, he also attended the University of California, Hastings College
of the Law, and Rijksuniversiteit Leiden, the Netherlands, to receive his JD and LLM degrees,
respectively. Currently, he is a registered Patent Attorney.
Otto Lee has been active in local community leadership for many years, and has served as a Commissioner
on the Sunnyvale Planning Commission during the past five years. He is also a member of Board of
Directors of the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific American Democratic Club.
This past February, Otto Lee was called up to serve at the U.S. Naval Air Force Pacific Command
Headquarters in San Diego. Despite active duty as well as owning and managing a law firm in San Jose,
he has always tried to serve the people of Sunnyvale in his spare time. Upon his return from San Diego,
he immediately committed himself to the preparation of running for City Council. Even on the morning of
yesterday's Fundraising Party, he found time to visit the Grand Opening of the new Sunnyvale Senior
Center.
Otto Lee expressed that he will be a good listener to the people in his community. "I am reachable, I
pledge to be at your service. With the advent of technology with email, fax, voicemail, I want to make
sure you know that as a Council member I will be accessible."
"I will listen to your point of views: Though I cannot, and shall not promise to vote exactly the way
you want me to, I will promise to be a good listener. If you need to reach me, you can always do so at
my free number 888-OTTO-LEE."
Otto Lee has demonstrated his strong commitment to serving his community. He further explains, " I have
always been very active in participating all kinds of community activities and organizations since
middle school."
People who attended Otto Lee's Fundraising Party include Sunnyvale Mayor Miller, Vice Mayor Risch,
California State Assemblyman Diaz, and hundreds of Sunnyvale residents. Vice Mayor Risch said, "Otto
Lee is an excellent candidate for City Council. I am sure he will not disappoint the people who vote
for him."
